Zooper Boogie - Our Review

Aug 14, 2007 @ 01:05 pm by Zooper Boogie Review

Modern parents demand strollers that can adapt to both the rough and uneven nature of local parks or even the bumps and obstacles on the sidewalks of their own neighborhood. Zooper have recognized this demand and have responded with their “Everyday Collection” of all-terrain strollers. The Zooper Boogie is one such stroller, advertised as versatile, comfortable to sit in and to use, has plenty of extras and, above all, suitable for all terrains.

Versatile

One of the Zooper Boogie’s strengths lies in its versatility. The front wheel can be fixed for rough surfaces or you can release it for smoother terrain. The ability to fully adjust the handle bar to the height of the person pushing and other available adjustments make it unlikely that you will ever strike it when striding. There is a fully adjustable canopy that comes in very handy when pushing the child in the sun or rain. The seat is fully padded and can be reclined with one hand. The seat can even be switched around so that the child faces you while you push.

Comfortable

The comfort of the child is paramount in any stroller and in this respect the Zooper Boogie does not disappoint. In fact there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that children often fall asleep within minutes of their journey. The adjustable seating options go a long way to addressing the comfort needs of the child. The wheels are large and and have air-filled tires, great for going up bumpy curbs. The harness is adjustable from a five-point to a three-point system and, therefore shoulders free, option. This is especially important for the older child.

Accessories

The Zooper Boogie has many extras and includes free accessories, such as an air pump, foot muff, a rain cover and UV/glare filter cover to protect your child against all elements, without blocking their view. The large storage basket is a very welcome addition as too is the parent cup and and cell phone holder. All the accessories easily clip or zip into place. One disappointment is that it is only “car seat compatible” rather than having a standard car seat that clicks into place. Instead you have to place a recommended car seat, such as the Graco Snugride or the Peg Perego Primo Viaggo, into the stroller. This can take a few minutes to adjust and is more of an inconvenience than a real problem.

Handling & Maneuverability

The Zooper Boogie’s handling is second to none. In fact this is easily its greatest strength. It is very easy to maneuver, due to the versatile front wheels and braking system. Going up and down curbs is a breeze because it is so easy to push and control. It works well on all surfaces, including dirt tracks and grass. It has an excellent seating and suspension system so you don’t have to worry about your little one as you tackle the more challenging obstacles. The parking brake is a must in any stroller and the hand brake for slowing the stroller down is a nice little feature, especially when approaching curbs.

The Verdict

So does the Zooper Boogie live up to its advertised features of being versatile, comfortable, feature rich and suitable for all terrains? The answer to this is yes . . . to a large extent. Like most strollers, it does have some drawbacks. Some people have found the stroller to be bulky and sometimes a problem when stowing away and I would recommend you choose a cheaper, smaller stroller for activities such as shopping in the mall. However, the Zooper Boogie has a strong and sturdy build, is very easy to maneuver, and is well suited to the outdoors and, unlike many other strollers, the child’s comfort and that of the driver has been given some serious consideration. It is not the cheapest all-terrain stroller on the market but then again it won’t let you down.

How to choose your stroller

Apr 14, 2007 @ 01:03 pm by Zooper Boogie Review

  1. First, choose the right stroller type based on your needs. Stroller types include, standard, lightweight, jogging, multiple seated and car-seat strollers.
  2. Next, choose a stroller for the comfort of your child and yourself. Look for good seats and easy handling.
  3. Safety features are also important. Look for a suitable harness system, stability and parking brakes.
  4. Storage options - try to get a stroller that is easily transported and stowed away when not in use.

Stroller Types

There are five basic stroller types, each one designed to meet a particular need:

  1. Lightweight or “umbrella” strollers - these are light in weight and therefore easily stored and convenient to use. An example of this type of stroller would be the Zooper Salsa stroller.
  2. The standard stroller - these are generally heavier than the lightweight stroller but they are more versatile, often more comfortable and handle better than their lightweight counterpart. The Zooper Waltz stroller is a good example of this type of stroller.
  3. Double, triple or quadruple strollers - designed for larger families these strollers tend to be more bulky for obvious reasons. Seating arrangements for these types of stroller can be in tandem (one behind the other) or side by side. An example of this type of stroller would be the Zooper Tango stroller.
  4. Jogging or all-terrain strollers- designed for more rugged terrains. The main features to look out for in this type of stroller are their wheels, suspension and steering capabilities. The Zooper Boogie is an excellent example of this type of stroller.
  5. Travel system or car seat strollers - consist of seats that can be easily attached to your stroller and your car. No need for two separate, and sometimes costly, seats. The Graco Alano Travel System Rise & Shine is an example of this type of stroller.
